Maya Loses her Bread in Guarding "Public Morality"

     By: Haroon Baloch

It is a saying in English "As you sow, so shall you
reap."

It may be a bit earlier to write but I cannot refrain myself because my sources in Samaa TV have confirmed that Maya Khan Show will not go on-air from Monday. Certainly, a bad news for an employee, but this is fact that masses wanted the same since the very next moment after Maya Khan's 17th January show ended.

Sorry Maya Khan, I know you're a good actor, but you bang the rights of public and I guess they didn't like your approach.

I’m a reporter whether reporting objectively or opinionatedly, my ethics while writing blog or a news report must be same, facts are integrated and authentic, I’m responsible for what I claim.

Being a strong believer of social responsibility of media, freedom of expression is my right, but to harm someone other’s right is not my right. One can express his/her views on any topic, phenomena, and/or issue, but minding the laws and ethics. So respect others rights.

It’s really ashamed of when a representative of my community in her Live Show chases dates in public places merely because of good ratings of her show. Who gave her the right to disrespect dating couples’ rights?

Please refer to the following link and I leave it to my readers to decide what this journalist is doing:

Maya Khan Show of Samaa TV

Everyone has the right to choose for him/her, good or bad. We being a journalist must realize our red lines and never cross them. Else wise be ready to face the music.

I would appreciate the Samaa TV's management for realizing the tenderness of the matter, but I'm amazed simultaneously for allowing such show to go on-air. However, their decision of sacking the anchor with producer because of their nonsense is a wise step and a precedence for media personnel that how important laws and ethics are.

It is also an evidence of our media's aging maturity, which has just a few years back liberated from black laws.

Changing environment and Pakistan’s crises

Haroon Baloch January 07, 2011 The pace of development in South Asia has always remained questionable, mainly attributed to outsized populations. China, the world’s largest population, neighbors the second largest India, as well as the seventh largest population Pakistan. Environmental concerns of the region are reciprocal to their populations. Developed industrial countries are considered responsible for the international environmental crises, while developing countries bear the brunt of negative consequences as they lack resources and capabilities to control this grave problem.  In Pakistan, pity natural resource management over years and high population growth exacerbated environmental menace. Yet having strategically important location in the region, the country faces serious threats in terms of food security and energy crises mainly due to shortage of water, an issue which is drastically ambiguous. Sufficiency in agriculture production highly depends on the...
